Boudoir Makeup Inspirations

As a professional photographer let me tell you I have seen the anxiety and the joy that comes from my clients when picking out a makeup style for their shoot. Many Boudoir photographers include makeup in their service or at the very least offer it. I absolutely love our makeup artist, Jennifer take a look at her Instagram, she will put your worries to rest and something about her energy will have you booking her for even your family shoots!  So, if you are anxious about your makeup journey look at examples of what the professional makeup artist has previously done and continue reading to decide if maybe these most common styles might be a good fit for you!

First, let’s discuss the “no makeup” makeup look! If you’re thinking what is the point? What does it mean? Why can’t I just have no makeup? Don’t worry, I got you! The no makeup look just means a natural style of makeup. It is great if you want to stay as natural as possible, if you have a morning shoot and still need to run around for the rest of the day, or if the shoot is a surprise and you don’t want to raise too much suspicion because you usually don’t wear makeup. It will provide a more even tone and fresh-looking face for different lighting conditions that are in the studio or your home, maybe redirecting those stubborn eyebrow hairs, while still drawing the attention to your eyes and leaving in your beauty marks. I would highly recommend at looking at some before and after with this look. It is subtle and lasts all day.

Second, we have the smoky look. This focuses more on your eyes and more natural for the lips. It is another popular one for Boudoir shoot because your eyes will tend to be more dramatic and draw in whoever you share your photos with. It can tell a story and add to the overall mood of the scene. Smokey eyes can come in different shades too so don’t be afraid to speak to your photographer and makeup artist. If you already have your outfits picked maybe have a conversation on what tones would compliment your favorite outfit! It is great especially if you have an evening shoot and have plans for an evening out with your friends, date night or if you simply want to raise some eyebrows when you get home!

The third look that tends to be popular when doing a boudoir shoot is pinup! This look usually will have a color pop for your lips, traditionally red tones, and instead of more eyeshadow it shapes your eyes with dramatic eyeliner. This look is fun and classically sexy. Depending on your usual style this look can be worn during the day or at night. It is great for a summer day on the weekend, for festivals as well as a night out. It will defiantly add a fun and sexy vibe to any outfit!
